Hot, perfectly cooked French fries sprinkled with cheese curd and topped off with hot Quebec style gravy is some of what Banff’s newest poutine hang out has to offer.
Banff Poutine not only has an authentic style; but it gives customers a warm, inviting atmosphere with a family feel to accompany any meal enjoyed within its walls.
While the Bear Street eatery is still relatively new, only opening its doors this past summer, spending half an hour in the space will reveal the quick community feel it’s aiming for, with repeat customers and joyful banter already being served up. It may come as no surprise that it’s made the Best of the Bow reader's choice awards list for its poutine.
For owner and operator, Eric St-Onge, whom can often be found working the fryer himself, it’s all about sharing the love.
“I just want to thank you [the Bow Valley] for recognizing us and putting us out there,” he said.
“We’re going to keep making our poutine and everything else we sell here with love and I think that’s what’s going to make us a successful business over time, there’s a lot of love in our food for sure.”
In terms of the recognition, St-Onge said only three months into the game, it’s a pretty nice feeling.
“We’ve only been at it for three months – so it’s nice to see that we’re doing what we’re supposed to do,” he said.
“Any sort of recognition right now will help us grow our small business and its basically one of those projects [we wanted to do] since we moved here in Banff – it’s been over 20 years. Just the fact that we’re doing it – we’re pretty pumped about it.”
Banff Poutine offers a Quebec style menu featuring smoked meat sandwiches, a variety of different poutines as well as an option for traditional hot dog and hamburgers.
