Calgary police think men found dead in vehicle were shot the night before

Calgary homicide detectives say they believe two men who were found dead in a vehicle were shot about 12 hours before they were discovered.

Police say they were called Tuesday morning to Marcombe Drive N.E. for reports of a suspicious vehicle that had been left running on the street, and the two men were found dead inside.

Investigators say it appears the vehicle was parked there Monday night, and that the men were shot between 9 and 9:30 p.m.

In a news release, Staff Sgt. Martin Schiavetta calls it "a violent and targeted incident."

He says that while police are still in the early stages of the investigation, the shooting "has the hallmarks of organized crime."

Autopsies are scheduled for Wednesday and police are asking anyone with information on the case to contact them.
