In regards to the letter “special tourism designation bill vital to local economy” in the April 13 edition of the Outlook, Mr. Hancock wants Canmore residents to support UCP Banff-Kananaskis MLA Miranda Rosin in the upcoming election for a piece of proposed legislation that took her four years to author.

He asserts this is vital to Canmore’s future. Then he has the temerity to claim this is not about politics. Disingenuity right out of a politician’s playbook.
And for the record, in Alberta we’ve pretty much had the same conservative government for 30 years, other than one blast of brief fresh air four years ago. So, no, in our province governments do not come and go, but they ought to.

Sure, I’ll cast my vote for a premier and her caucus who, amongst other matters have blamed vulnerable Albertans for getting cancer and heart failure, just so Canmore can (maybe) get its special tourism designation.

How heartless, shortsighted and oblivious to the bigger picture in our province.

Phillip van der Merwe,

Canmore
