STONEY NAKODA FIRST NATION – A traffic stop by Stoney Nakoda RCMP led to several charges laid against three people from the Calgary region for possession of drugs and weapons.
Police said they stopped a GMC Yukon on the first nation at about 5 a.m. Wednesday (Jan. 8). During the stop, police officers saw drug paraphernalia and controlled substances.
A search of the truck found evidence of fentanyl drug trafficking, a 3D printer, 3D printed firearm parts and evidence linked to a recent break and enter in Cochrane.
A 44-year-old Calgary man is facing several charges, including possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and three counts of failing to comply with a probation order.
He remains in custody and appeared at Cochrane Court of Justice on Thursday (Jan. 9).
A 35-year-old Calgary man was charged with six counts of failing to comply with a release order, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by a crime and possession of a firearm while prohibited.
After a judicial interim release hearing, he was released and will appear at Cochrane Court of Justice on Jan. 21.
A 24-year-old Airdrie woman was charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by a crime.
She was released and will appear at Cochrane Court of Justice on Feb. 4.
