OLGA GORRIGSEN

December 13, 1926 – September 11, 2022

Olga passed away peacefully on the morning of September 11, 2022 at the age of 95 at St. Martha’s Place in the Banff Mineral Springs Hospital. Olga was born in Redwater, Alberta and came to Banff in 1956 for a summer job, and like many never left. Olga began working at the Quaker Coffee Shop for lifelong family friends the Schooler’s and retired after many years of working at the Bow View Motor Lodge. Olga met her husband Henning (Blondie) soon after arriving in Banff and they married in May of 1957. After many laughs and memories with their close friends, they were blessed with the birth of their son Brent (Corky). Olga will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a friend to many. She loved the Banff community, volunteering with the Legion, Seniors Centre, Presbyterian Church and the Ladies Auxiliary for many years.

Olga is survived by her son Brent (Susan), grandchildren Carleigh and Kiera and her brother Paul Poliwchuk of Edmonton, Alberta.

Olga’s family would like to thank Dr. James Baergen, and all the wonderful staff / friends at St. Martha’s for their kindness and love they have shown to Olga each and every day. The staff at St. Martha’s are truly a testament to their professions. A small family gathering will be held to celebrate Olga’s life.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made, in Olga's memory, to St. Martha’s Place at the Banff Mineral Springs Hospital.

“ Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy.”
