GREGORASH, Lindsay Kenneth

July 24, 1963 – October 16, 2024

It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected death of Lindsay on October 16, a mere five weeks after his Dad, Lorne.

Lindsay Kenneth Gregorash was born on July 24, 1963 in Brandon Manitoba.  A son for Lorne and Shirley and a little brother for Shelley.  Lindsay loved his childhood in Brandon making life-long friends.  In 1980 Lindsay moved to Winnipeg with his parents where he finished his schooling.

Like his Dad, Lindsay was a DIY guy - from the retail side.  Lindsay worked as an associate for Beaver Lumber, McDiarmid Lumber and Dominion Lumber prior to settling into a career with Home Depot.  Lindsay worked several years with Home Depot in Winnipeg and was honored to be part of the team to open the first Home Depot back in his hometown of Brandon.

Lindsay spent as much vacation time as he could visiting his sister Shelley in Canmore.  With every visit the pull of the Rockies was greater.  Following the footsteps of so many, Lindsay took a leap of faith that everything would work out and made the move to Canmore in 2009.  With his vast retail experience and natural gift of making friends,  it did not take long for Lindsay to find a role with Shades on Caribou where his business acumen was quickly noticed and he was promoted to the role of manager of both the Banff and Canmore stores.

In his spare time Lindsay loved exploring the Rockies.  He challenged himself when it came to hiking, often to the chagrin of his older sister Shelley, as he would have her dog in tow.  When not hiking he enjoyed drives throughout the Rockies and all of the events hosted here. From the torch relay for the 2010 Olympics, to Folk Fest, to cheering on the Eagles, Lindsay was proud and grateful to call Canmore home.

In 2022, Lindsay sustained a catastrophic back injury requiring continual care, which he found at Hawthorne Supportive Living in Cochrane.  While he was always happy to have visitors, he was ecstatic when Shelley visited with her dogs!  Shirley and Shelley are forever grateful for the work of Lindsay’s care team; his doctors and all of the team at Hawthorne; especially on the night of Lindsay’s passing.  They are also grateful for the work of the EMTs who attended and the compassion of the Cochrane and Canmore RCMP detachments when informing them of Lindsay’s death.

Lindsay was predeceased by his Dad, Lorne; his Grandparents Polly and Metro Gregorash, and Frank and Vera McPhaden; and his Uncle David Bryer.

Lindsay will be deeply missed by his Mom, Shirley McPhaden Gregorash of Winnipeg, sister Shelley Gregorash of Canmore and his niece  Zoe of Calgary; his Uncle Harvey and Aunt Judy Gregorash of Calgary, his Uncle Harvey and Aunt Alena McPhaden of Markham, his Aunt Maureen Bryer of Brockville, several cousins and countless friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Lindsay on Saturday, November 9, 2024 from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm at Evan J. Strong Funeral Services North (3625 - 12 Street NE) in Calgary.

Lindsay wasn’t a flowers kind of guy, but he LOVED dogs!  In memory of Lindsay, and in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Bow Valley SPCA  https://www.bowvalleyspca.org/ or a no-kill shelter of your choice.  Photos, memories and condolences may be shared with Lindsay’s family through www.evanjstrong.com.
