CHIFTIS, Evangelos (Van)
July 20, 1927 – November 17, 2024
Evangelos (Van) Chiftis passed away peacefully on November 17, 2024 at the age of 97 years having led a full life. Van was born in Fteri Greece, on July 20, 1927 and immigrated to Canada settling in Banff in the early 1950’s. In Banff, he met and married Niki Bicas where they raised a family of two daughters.
He is survived by his wife Niki; daughters Elena Chiftis and Connie Fewster (Robert); his beloved granddaughter Kaila Fewster; and his nephew Archie Chustas (Garth).
The family would like to thank the staff at Origins, Dr. McDonald and the wonderful nurses and aids, Unit 41A at the Foothills Hospital.
A Funeral Service will be held at St. Georges-in-the-Pines Anglican Church Banff Today, Thursday, November 28, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. following the service, a get-together where all his friends and acquaintances are invited between 1:00pm to 3:00pm, at Origins Spring Creek, 808 Spring Creek Dr, Canmore. A private family interment will take place in the Banff Mountain View Cemetery.
