LAC DES ARCS – One vehicle burst into flames, while another vehicle slammed into the back of a semi in what was a busy Friday night (Nov. 1) near the quiet hamlet of Lac Des Arcs.
Police said one driver suffered minor injuries as a result of the two separate incidents that occurred within 15 minutes of each other between 11-11:15 p.m. on the Trans-Canada Highway.
“A semi truck driver was driving and then they received an error message on their instrument panel and then the vehicle caught on fire,” said Cst. Cory Riggs, public information officer with RCMP media group.
“Behind them, a semi went to slow down and a pick-up truck hit into the second semi, but just minor [wrist] injuries to the truck driver.”

According to 511 Alberta, emergency crews cleared the highway just before 1 a.m. on Saturday morning.
Lac Des Arcs is approximately 10 kilometres east of Canmore.
