Man found dead at base of East End of Rundle, say police

A 27-year-old man died at the base of East End of Rundle Sunday (May 28), police said.

KANANASKIS COUNTRY – A 27-year-old man died at the base of East End of Rundle Sunday (May 28), police said.

Police said Kananaskis Mountain Rescue received a report of a person in medical distress on the scree at the base of the cliff on the morning of May 28.

A search that lasted into the afternoon by Kananaskis Mountain Rescue, Canmore RCMP and Alpine Helicopters located the Edmonton resident.

The Calgary Medical Examiner’s Office is leading the investigation with help from Canmore RCMP. Police said no foul play is suspected.

“Thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the deceased,” said Cpl. Gina Slaney, public information officer for RCMP’s Southern Alberta district.

Police said no additional updates will be provided.
