BANFF — Winds toppled a tree onto a power line in Banff Tuesday afternoon (Oct. 8), causing about 1,775 properties in the national park townsite to be without power.
The Fenlands Banff Recreation Centre has power and the facility, arenas and all programming are still going ahead tonight.
Town of Banff officials say FortisAlberta is working on repairs of a power line along the Bow River Trail on the south side, with current estimates having power restored around 6 p.m..
“FortisAlberta has sent crews to address the issue,” states a Town of Banff Facebook post.
This power outage is not related to the planned work outage to begin at midnight to relocate an osprey nest west of town.
