With Halloween taking place on Wednesday (Oct. 31), Canmore RCMP are warning area revellers that it is illegal to set off fireworks without a permit.

Anyone wishing to set off fireworks must obtain a permit from the Town of Canmore for $50, plus GST, which is payable to Canmore Fire/EMS.

Failure to obtain a permit could result in a violation with a fine ranging from $200 to $10,000.

Application requirements include: personal information; an event description, including classification of fireworks; a site plan; emergency response plan and proof of insurane ($5 million liability naming Town of Canmore as additional insured).
